It’s been a fun-filled and exciting week in Hedgehogs class, with lots of hands-on learning and special visitors! ✨
In English, we’ve been helping Vlad the Flea, the main character in our class story, who had a bit of a disaster this week – he lost all of his facts about the Great Fire of London around the school! Luckily, the clever Hedgehogs were on the case. We took part in a treasure hunt, solving clues and answering questions to help Vlad recover his missing information. The excitement didn’t stop there – we even had a very special visit from King Charles II himself, who helped us learn even more about the events of the Great Fire of London!
In Maths, our Year 1s have been learning all about Part-Whole Models. To make our learning extra fun, we headed outside and used natural objects like leaves and conkers to explore the concept. Meanwhile, Year 2s have been busy working with number lines, and learning how to compare numbers up to 100 using the greater than (>), less than (<), and equals (=) symbols.
On Tuesday, we were fortunate to be visited by Heather, our EPA Chaplain, who led us in some thoughtful and engaging Godly Play. We learned all about the Christian calendar year, exploring key celebrations and their meanings. ⛪
In Science and History, we explored the Fire Triangle, learning about the three things needed to make a fire. We used this knowledge to investigate how and why the Great Fire of London spread so quickly – linking our science and history learning in a really exciting way.
The Hedgehogs have shown fantastic curiosity and teamwork this week – we can’t wait to see what next week brings!
