We have had another really busy week in Owls Class, and it has been lovely to see the children settling into the new term and working so hard.
In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of place value, working with numbers all the way up to ten million. The children have worked really hard and shown some great mathematical thinking.
In English, we have been focusing on expanded noun phrases and clauses, as well as exploring how we can use different sentence structures to build tension and suspense in our writing. It has been great to see the children becoming more confident and creative with their ideas.
On Wednesday, our Year 6 children visited Junior Citizens, where they learnt how to respond to a variety of real-life situations and how to keep themselves and others safe. This included learning about safety near water, online and in the home. They had a brilliant time and represented Stanton wonderfully.
On Thursday, we headed off for swimming again, which is quickly becoming a highlight of the week for many of the children!
Thank you so much to everyone who came along to our Meet the Teacher evening. It was really lovely to catch up with familiar faces and to properly meet some of our new families too.
Homework will begin next week, once all of our systems are fully up and running. The children will be using Times Tables Rock Stars, Sparx Reader and Spelling Shed, with their logins and further information coming home in their green homework folders.
Please also keep an eye on your emails, as you will soon receive an invitation to join ClassDojo. We will be using this in school to celebrate the children’s achievements and share the Pride Points they earn.
I hope you all have a lovely and restful weekend, and I look forward to seeing everyone again on Monday.
Mr Catling
