Badger Class News 02.05.25

What an exciting and enriching week we’ve had in Badger Class!

In history, we have extended our learning about prehistory, exploring what life was like before written records. The children used models to help understand just how vast this time period is and why it’s so significant. We’ve been using secondary sources to delve into the lives of early humans, piecing together evidence to form a clearer picture of our ancient ancestors.

In science, our young palaeontologists created short films to demonstrate how fossils form in sedimentary rock. Using slices of bread and a sprinkle of water, we mimicked the layers of earth and pressure that lead to fossilisation—it was a creative, engaging and very memorable way to learn!

In English, we’ve been focusing on how to use dialogue effectively to move a story forward. Pupils have been working hard on punctuating speech correctly and using character voices to bring their writing to life.

We’ve also been lucky to have the support of three Year 10 pupils from Bartholomew School, who have been a fantastic help in class and out on the playground throughout the week.

A furhter highlight of the week was a special visit during lunchtime from two Oxford United Academy Youth players. They joined us for a friendly game of football and shared their journey into professional sport. Their message about hard work, determination, and following your dreams left an impression on us all—what a fantastic reward for the children’s ongoing positive attitudes in PE!
