Badger Class News 09.05.25

Our focus throughout the week has been on the Stone Age, particularly the Palaeolithic period..

In Art, we created enlarged charcoal sketches of native animals, with children paying close attention to the size and shape of each part of their chosen subject.

In English, the children have written their own historical adventure stories, using characters from Stone Age Boy and applying their understanding of dialogue to move the story forward. These stories will be edited and published next week for sharing with others.

As part of our Science and Geography work, we investigated a variety of rocks, examining their properties — including hardness, absorbency, and reaction to weathering (acid rain). Our observations helped us to classify the rock samples.

In Maths, we have been counting in fractions and identifying equivalent fractions by recognising patterns. The children have been thinking deeply about common errors in example problems and learning how to explain their reasoning clearly using key terms such as denominator, numerator, and equivalence.
