Badger Class News 18.09

Dear Parents and Carers,

We’ve had another busy and enjoyable week in Badgers Class, with lots of fantastic learning taking place!

  • In English – We have been exploring fronted adverbials to vary our sentence openers. We focused on using when, where and how to add extra detail and make our writing more interesting.
  • In Maths – We have been partitioning numbers up to 10,000, both flexibly and using standard partitioning. We used part-whole models and place value charts to stretch and challenge our understanding. We also explored finding 10, 100 and 1,000 more or less than a given number.
  • In Science – We became scientists and investigated friction! We tested whether sandpaper or our hall floor would create the most friction and slow down our bottle caps. The children enjoyed making predictions, carrying out the investigation and discussing what they discovered.

Another fantastic effort from Badgers this week – well done everyone! We are looking forward to another exciting week of learning next week.

Best wishes,

Miss Benfield & Mrs Green
