Busy Bees and Bunnies Class News – 08.09.23

It has been wonderful to welcome the children back into EYFS and hear all about their holidays. We have been so impressed with how happily the children have returned to school helping the new bunnies settle. It has also been lovely to meet our new bunnies and their families, again we have been so impressed with how well they have settled into the new environment.

This week we have enjoyed starting our new topic ‘Super Me’ looking this week at our emotions and feelings linking this to the Zones of Regulation by reading The Colour Monster. The children were confident in sharing how they were feeling and coloured in their own colour monster. We got creative, looking carefully at our faces and making some artwork for our display. The children enjoyed looking after the babies in the Baby Clinic weighing and feeding them.  We harvested our carrots enjoying them for snack and planted some new flowers to brighten up the summerhouse.

Busy Bees will start phonics next week. We use a scheme called Rocket Phonics and will invite you all for a phonic session so that you can see how we teach reading and spelling. Meanwhile, the children would all really benefit from some ‘I spy’ games when out and about in the car or when going for a walk. For example, I spy a c-a-t/ d-o-g/h-a-t What can I spy? This is a really important skill and something that the children will be starting with in phonics. We will send home reading books towards the end of term.

If possible, over the next few weeks could we please have a baby picture of the children so that we can look at ways that they have changed/are similar.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and enjoy the last of this warm weather.
