We have had a wonderful week of discovery and learning.
This week we introduced the ‘My Community’ topic to the children and they had lots of great ideas what the word community means and how important their community is to them. The children learned about the meaning of remembrance this week and created some lovely poppies to share in collective worship. The children also learned about Diwali, discovering the similarities of Diwali to the celebration of Christmas and how Hindi’s prepare for Diwali. The children got creative and made diva lamps with clay.
We are really encouraging a love of reading in the early years. This term we are celebrating the wonderful work of Julia Donaldson who is our ‘Author of the term’. The children are enjoying listening and sharing a range of her stories.
Busy Bees are doing so well with their reading and it is wonderful to see their growing confidence. Reading with the regularly, only a few pages a day makes a real difference. Recording it in their reading record means they are working towards their reading certificate and reading leaf. The children have come home with a reading book this week as well as a book to share with you, which they will change weekly.
Thank you as always for your continued support.
Have a lovely weekend
