This week in phonics, we have been learning the sounds ‘w’ for web and ‘x’ for fox, as well as our new tricky words ‘he’ and ‘she’, where the ‘e’ makes an /ee/ sound. The children have been doing a great job spotting and using these in their reading and writing.
In maths, we have been singing “5 Speckled Frogs” and exploring the parts of 5. We used these to create part–whole models, helping us understand how numbers can be made in different ways.
Our topic learning has focused on people who help keep us healthy, including doctors, dentists and vets. The children have loved learning about these important roles.
Some of our favourite activities this week have been:
- Building towers for the princess and Zog
- Scrubbing our hands to get rid of germs
- Creating a doctor’s bag
- Dressing up and role-playing as doctors
In art, we explored texture by creating rubbings using wax crayons, and in PSHE we set ourselves a challenge and talked about the word ‘perseverance’, thinking about what it means to keep trying even when something feels tricky.
Have a great weekend!
