This week, we have been thinking about Diwali, the festival of light. The children enjoyed lots of talk and books about the celebration. They had a go at drawing mehndi patterns, designing their own rangoli patterns, and even made their very own diya lamps.
In phonics, our focus sound has been ‘ck’ as in duck. I have sent home a slip about phonics progress in the reading records. Please take a look and practise the suggested sounds at home. Thank you!
In maths, we have been representing the number 5 in different ways: on a dice frame, on fingers, and on tens frames.
Our story of the week was Pumpkin Soup. The children’s writing task was to create an ingredient list, which helped me know what to get from the shops! We then made and tasted our very own pumpkin soup – it was delicious!
It has been a long term, and everyone has worked incredibly hard. We hope you have a fantastic (and well-deserved!) break.
