This week we have been thinking all about Advent. We started opening our Advent calendar and enjoyed learning the Christmas story together. The classroom has been full of festive fun — we made Christmas cookies with playdough, created colourful paper chains, and even wrote letters to Santa!
In phonics, our focus sound has been ‘ss’, as in dress. We have also been consolidating our common exception words ‘no’ and ‘I’.
In maths, we have been practising our subitising skills and linking these to familiar dice patterns. The children loved playing board games and using dice to spot amounts quickly.
For Drawing Club, we listened to the story The Snowman. We created our own characters and imagined where the snowman might travel — all the way to the North Pole!
