We have had a lovely first week in Hedgehog Class. We spent some time getting to know each other, with the children presenting their five items from home, before playing some team building games. In English, we have been creating blackout poems, in which we take a page from a book and blackout certain words. The remaining words then create a new poem. In maths, we have been looking at place value and exploring a variety of different representations of numbers. The children have worked really hard on their presentation – next week’s newsletter will include some photos of their incredible final pieces. In History, we have been looking at documents and artefacts from WW2 to introduce our new topic.
I have been really impressed with the positive attitude of the new year 5’s – they are working incredibly hard and are exceptional role models to the younger students.
