A hot week this week!

We started the week with a new topic in science – plants! We explored outside of school and found lots of different plants on the way to the park – we found daffodils, daisies, dandelions, stinging nettles, ivy, and lots, lots more!

In English we have been thinking about the narrative we will be writing soon: all about our character with a dream, but they have a fear that is standing in the way of their dream. We described our character and what their fears were, using lots of adjectives and adverbs.

In maths, year 1 have been practising their counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, and applying this when counting amounts of coins! We have also been playing shops with these coins. Year 2 have been tackling subtraction of 2 digit numbers when crossing a ten, tricky stuff!! I have been so impressed with their partitioning and problem solving skills.

In art, the children were exploring texture with painting, they found objects in nature and had a go at painting these textures. In RE, they explored when Muslims pray and why they do it 5 times a day. In PSHE they looked at friendships and resolving conflict. In History, we researched explorers of cold places! We looked at Ernest Shackleton, Felicity Aston and Matthew Henson and compared the similarities and differences between their expeditions.

Finally, we finished our week of with a lovely visit from Mr Barnard, learning a brand new song ‘Bring me Sunshine!’

Have a great weekend.
