What a lovely, hot week we have had.
We started our week with our trip to the History of Science museum! We had such a great time. Our host, Helen, taught us all about Christopher Columbus, and all of the things he discovered in the Americas. We also explored different artefacts found on ships, and what they were used for. It was a really informative and fun session. After that, we walked to the University Parks and had a picnic and an explore/walk around the parks. We saw lots of wildlife and plants! It was a really lovely day.
In English we have finished and published our narratives! We retold the story of Look Up! from an alternative perspective. Their stories are so well thought out and creative. I have been very impressed with their writing skills.
In maths, year 1 have been looking at place value, exploring the composition of numbers to 100. We looked at the digits in the number to explore how many tens and how many ones are in each number, and using this to solve addition problems. Year 2 have been using multiplication and division facts to solve word problems.
In history, we had a space race! We briefly discussed why the USA and USSR were in competition after World War 2, and then raced to see which country could create a satellite first, send a man to space first, and finally, who could put a man on the moon.
In RE we have been continuing our look at Hajj, and we explored what Muslims do at different stages of Hajj. We acted it out and labelled a map to describe each stage.
In PE we have been practising for sports day, this time focusing on shotput and long jump.
