Hedgehog Class News 20.9.24

These weeks are whizzing by, I can’t believe it’s Friday already.

This week we have been working super hard in Maths: looking at number lines and composition of numbers.

In English we have been focusing on poetry. We read the short story ‘Not a Stick!’ and the children have been tasked with writing their own alliterative poem using the title: ‘That’s not my blanket!’ I have been very impressed with our understanding of alliteration and our creative use of adjectives.

In Science we have been looking at properties of materials, this week focusing on whether different materials can have their shape changed. We experimented with different materials and recorded our findings.

In RE we retold and acted out the parable of the Lost Son from the Bible.

In History we looked at the complete blanket-making process and discovered how hard all the workers worked back in the day.

We also chose our school councillors. Lots of children volunteered to be school councillor and we heard them all speak about why they would be good. They had some fantastic ideas and should all feel very proud of themselves for being so brave speaking in front of a crowd. After we heard them speak we did an anonymous vote and the winners were: Victor for year 1, and Charlie for year 2. Well done boys!

We’ve also enjoyed lots of reading and playing in the sunshine. Have a fab weekend.
