Hedgehog Class News 21.04.2023

We’ve had a wonderful first week back in Hedgehog Class, full of excitement around our new topics! In maths, we have been learning all about angles, including how to measure acute and obtuse angles with a protractor. This requires some really patience and determination; I have been so impressed with how all the children have embraced the challenge and persevered throughout. In English, we have enjoyed learning about Haikus, a Japanese form of poetry comprising of 17 syllables over 3 lines. We considered the key themes in our last class book, Greenling, and thought carefully about how to incorporate these into our Haikus. The children wrote some really thoughtful and reflective Haikus, especially around environmentalism and being eco-friendly. In PE, we have started our Athletics topic this term with some practice of speed walking and running in relays. In History, we have started our topic on the Romans by exploring the legend of how Rome was founded: Rome and Romulus.

I have been so impressed with how all the children have settled back into the school routines. They are full of enthusiasm, as always, and have embraced all of our new learning this term.
