Hedgehog Class News 23.2.24

Welcome back! I hope you all had a lovely half term break and are feeling ready and excited for our new spring term.

In English, the children were tasked to give me verbal instructions on ‘how to make a jam sandwich’. I followed each instruction exactly as I was told it, which resulted in a very messy, inedible sandwich! We discussed the importance of giving clear and precise instructions, and our second attempt was much better and we were able to enjoy our tasty masterpiece.

In Maths, we have been learning about division and although it has been tricky, the children have persevered and used bar models effectively to support their working out.

Alongside a visit to church this week where Reverend Jo spoke about the importance of Easter and forgiveness, we have also been looking at the Easter story in our RE lessons, specifically the importance of Palm Sunday. We thought about how we would welcome Jesus into Stanton Harcourt today and why we would do so.

We had a go at orienteering in our Geography lesson, equipped with compasses, we turned our classroom into a giant map of Africa, and explored the different countries and their location within the continent.

In Science we have kicked off our Big Science Event! We have chosen some exciting questions that we will investigate in the weeks to come. We are focusing on rotting, so please excuse any strange smells coming from our classroom!
