Hedgehog Class News 25.10.24

We’ve made it to half term!

This has been such a long term and everyone has been so amazing and so motivated. I am feeling very proud.

We have had an exciting last week:

In English we have been focused on performance. We looked at different ways to make a great performance: speaking loudly and clearly, adding rhythm and expression, adding actions, working as part of a team, and finally, performing to an audience! Everyone was so brave and did such a great job with their performance. I am now looking forward to their Nativity performance!!

In Maths we have not eased up for the last week:

Year 1 have been using their addition and subtraction knowledge to solve word problems.

Year 2 have been subtracting by crossing a 10 (very tricky!!). We have done a great job.

Instead of our usual foundation subjects this week we have instead done a week of art.

On Monday we had a special visitor! My mum came in to demonstrate a craft that she enjoys – sewing. We linked this to Witney Blankets and the children had a go at blanket stitch and running stitch.

On Tuesday, Mrs Rideout explored wool wrapping.

On Wednesday, Ms Sherlock explored plaiting and knotting.

On Thursday we had a go at paper weaving, we thought carefully about our colours and made some great ‘blankets’!

Finally, on Friday we used all of our new skills to weave on a box loom.

We have worked so so hard and all deserve a lovely break. Hope you have a fantastic holidays, and we will see you on Tuesday 5th of November!
