We have had such a lovely first week back! We hope you had a great break.
We have started our new English writing unit, focusing on narratives and retelling our new class text: ‘Look Up!’ by Nathan Bryon. We are loving this story and putting ourselves in the shoes of the teenager in the text: Jamal.
In maths, year 1 have started their topic on time. We have been looking at events in a day, week, month and years. Year 2 have been using their known multiplication facts to solve division problems.
In Science we have started our new topic on animals, including humans. We looked at the human life cycle and how humans change and learn over time.
In History we continued our work on Ibn Battuta. We looked at different sources from the Rihla and acted out the various things that Ibn witnessed on his travels.
On Thursday we had an amazing cricket festival at Bartholomew school, run by the year 9 sports leaders. We took part in lots of different activities to practise our cricket skills, including fielding, agility and batting. We even played tug of war!
Just a reminder for year 1 parents that we have our phonics screening on Monday, which I am positive the children will absolutely smash. Keep reading!
Have a great weekend.
