Hedgehog Class News 8.12.23

We have had a very busy week in Hedgehog Class and have been working very hard!

In English we finished our persuasive letters to Birt and Etho, asking them to be our friends. This was our final extended write of the year and I cannot believe the amount of progress that all of the children have made in their writing.

In History, we have been investigating different artefacts and what they can tell us about the past. We also looked at Samuel Pepys’ diary as an important historical source, which gave us information about the Great Fire. The children have absolutely loved history this term and I am very sad to see this topic end – I hope you have been as impressed with their knowledge on the Great Fire of London as I have!

In RE we wrapped up our learning on the Christmas story, and thought to ourselves what gifts we would give baby Jesus if he was born in Stanton Harcourt. The children had lots of lovely ideas including cuddly toys, a milk bottle and a special prayer.

In Science with Mrs Howell, they explored the differences between animals and their diet – looking at herbivores, omnivores and carnivores.

Finally, we have been rehearsing and fine-tuning our Nativity play ready for next week. Thank you so much to those who have brought in costumes and props. We are all really excited for the performances next week, and look forward to seeing you there.
