Hedgehogs Class News 10.1.25

Happy New Year everyone!

It has been so nice welcoming everyone back after Christmas break. I hope you all had a restful break.

We started our week with snow! Very fitting as we kick off our new topic of ‘Frozen Planet’. We also started the week with a trip to the North Pole! We have started a new story in English – ‘The Great Explorer’ by Chris Judge, where a young boy, Tom, goes on an expedition to the North Pole to rescue his father who had gotten himself lost. We went to the ‘North Pole’ and looked for any signs of Tom’s dad! We spotted polar bears, ice, and even the Northern Lights. We are loving this new story and are being really descriptive when describing the Arctic landscape.

In Science we have started our new topic of living things and their habitats. I was very impressed with their knowledge of what makes a living thing living.

In RE we are finding out about Islam and why Muslims visit the Mosque. We used google maps to visit Mosques locally and around the world.

In music we have been doing some lovely singing and exploring pitch patterns.

In PSHE we have set some goals for the New Year and thought about ways to achieve them.

Finally in PE, Mrs Rideout has been teaching us how to send and receive a ball. We have also started our new topic of invasion games, and looking at possession and keeping control of the ball.

Have a great weekend!
