Hedgehogs class news -12.6.26

We started the week with the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check, and I was incredibly impressed with how responsible and hardworking the children were. They all made me very proud. A special mention must also go to our Year 2 children, who worked quietly and responsibly while the checks were taking place. Parents will receive information about how their child got on in the phonics check as part of their end-of-year report later this term.

This week, we have also been practising our songs ready for the weekend’s performance with Stanton Orchestra. The children have really enjoyed the singing sessions, and it would be lovely to see as many families there as possible to support them.

We have continued preparing for Sports Day too, spending time getting our athletics skills ready for sports day later this term and enjoying being active together. We have challenged our balance, completing activities that require focus and balance to master.

In RE, we learned about special places. We discussed how a church is a special place for Christians and a synagogue is a special place for Jewish people. The children then thought about and drew their own special places. It was wonderful to see the variety of responses and hear the thoughtful reasons why these places are important to them.

Although it has been a rather wet week, the children have remained focused, positive and enthusiastic in all that they have done. Well done, Hedgehogs!
