What a wonderful and busy start to the term we’ve had in Hedgehogs!
We began with an exciting trip to the Oxford Natural History Museum, where the children were fascinated by the spectacular skeletons on display. They asked brilliant questions and showed so much curiosity. Well done, Hedgehogs!
Back at school, we have been working hard on our story writing. Using the Story Mountain structure, the children planned their own stories. To help us visualise our story journeys, we went outside to draw giant mountains on the playground and then used drama to bring our ideas to life. The creativity has been amazing to see. Next week, we’ll be having a go at writing our full story retellings.
In maths, the Year 2 children have been exploring addition and subtraction, using different strategies and explaining their thinking. Meanwhile, the Year 1 children have been exploring with number lines to support counting, ordering, and simple calculations. It’s been great to see their confidence growing.
On November 11th, the children took part in a Remembrance Day ceremony at the war memorial. They showed great respect as we gathered to remember and honour those who have served.
We also had a lovely Parents’ Evening on Tuesday and Wednesday. It was wonderful to speak with so many of you and share how well the children are doing. Thank you for taking the time to come in.
We have been focusing on our Nativity as well. The children are working brilliantly on their lines and songs, and it’s lovely to see their enthusiasm building. For homework at the moment, please continue helping your child learn their lines. I will try to upload the songs to our class page soon so you can sing and dance along at home.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
