What We’ve Been Learning This Week
What a busy and exciting week we’ve had in Hedgehogs Class! The children have worked incredibly hard across all areas of the curriculum, and we’re very proud of their enthusiasm and effort.
✏️ English
In English, we have been learning about the key features of a story. This work is preparing us for planning, writing, and publishing our very own stories next week. The children especially enjoyed taking part in pronoun board games, which helped them understand how different contexts require different pronouns. It was wonderful to see such great teamwork and discussion.
➕ Maths
Math’s lessons have been full of thinking and problem-solving:

Year 2 have been focusing on using groups and repeated addition to solve multiplication questions.

Year 1 have been learning about commutative numbers and exploring different ways of making numbers equal.
✝️ RE
In RE, we continued our learning about Judaism. The children explored idols, Abraham, and discussed appropriate belief systems. They asked thoughtful questions and showed respect when talking about different beliefs.
🎨 Art
In Art, we created some fantastic African animals to decorate our art display. These vibrant creations have added even more colour and excitement to our classroom and helped us celebrate African themes.
🌱 Science
We began our new Science topic on plants this week. The children planned an exciting experiment to test what plants need the most to help them grow. We will grow plants in different conditions:

In a cupboard

Outside

By the window
-
Without water
We also discussed the importance of a control, so we will be growing one plant with water, warmth, and sunlight to compare results. This sparked great scientific thinking and curiosity!
