Hedgehogs class news – 24.4.26

This week in Hedgehogs Class we have been making the most of the sunny weather and taking our learning outdoors. We have loved using the fantastic new tables kindly gifted by FOSHS — thank you! We have even enjoyed taking lots of our lessons, even Maths, outside.

In Maths:
Year 1 children have begun learning about money, using their adding and taking away skills to help them “buy” different items.
Year 2 children have been learning different ways to add two two-digit numbers, especially when crossing ten, and choosing their favourite method to use. We then applied this knowledge to subtracting two two-digit numbers.

In Art:
We have begun painting and exploring how to use primary colours to make secondary colours, mixing carefully to create new colours.

In RE:
We have been learning about Shabbat and how Jewish people spend their day of rest, including special traditions and family time.

In Geography:
We learned about the main bodies of water around the UK and used maps to locate and identify them.

In Science:
We began learning about forces, starting with gravity. We explored this by dropping different objects and observing what happened.

It has been another busy and enjoyable week of learning in Hedgehogs Class!
