What a festive and exciting week we’ve had in Hedgehogs Class!
This week, the children have been getting into the Christmas spirit by singing Christmas carols during collective worship. Their enthusiasm has been wonderful to see, and the hall has been full of smiles and festive cheer! We have also continued practicing our Nativity. We’re now heading into the final push, so if I can give a little challenge for the weekend: please try to learn any remaining lines — it will really help our final rehearsals next week.
A huge thank you to those who have already brought in a book for Bookvent. We’re excited to begin opening these next week and sharing some magical stories together.
In English, we were introduced to persuasive letters. The children explored how characters in our story tried to persuade another character to come out and play — a fun and engaging way to learn about persuasive language.
In Maths, the Year 1 children have been working hard on partitioning numbers from 6–10 and writing number sentences to show their understanding. Our Year 2s have been challenged with adding and subtracting numbers that cross a ten and have shown great determination in tackling their tasks.
In Science, we have been learning about how different animals are adapted to survive in different habitats. The children then used plasticine to design and create their own animals, choosing special adaptations to help them live in their selected habitat. We saw some wonderfully imaginative creatures!
Well done, Hedgehogs, for another brilliant week of learning, creativity, and festive fun. We’re looking forward to all the exciting things ahead.
Have a lovely weekend! ✨
From,
Mr Catling and Miss Leeds.
