Hedgehogs class news – 5.6.26

I hope everyone had a wonderful half-term break and enjoyed making the most of the lovely sunshine!

This week in Science, we were introduced to our new topic, Animals Including Humans. The children explored how to identify whether something is living, dead, or has never been alive, and enjoyed conducting an experiment to help test their ideas and observations.

In Geography, we have continued our learning about the seaside. Excitement is certainly building for our upcoming trip to Bournemouth, and the children have loved finding out more about coastal environments and what we might see there.

In English, we began our new story, The Storm Whale. The children have shown great imagination as they started writing from the whale’s perspective, thinking carefully about its thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

On Friday, we started our new P.E. unit on Athletics. The children had a fantastic time developing their running, jumping, and throwing skills as we begin preparing for Sports Day.

We also had our class photographs taken on Friday. The children looked incredibly smart and did a wonderful job of smiling for the camera!

A gentle reminder that next week the children will be taking part in their Phonics Screening Check. There is no need to do anything extra at home; the best preparation is simply to continue enjoying regular reading together and practising phonics little and often. We are incredibly proud of how hard the children have worked throughout the year and know they will all do their very best.

Have a lovely weekend, and we look forward to another exciting week of learning together!
