Hedgehogs class news – 6.2.26

🦔 Hedgehogs Weekly Newsletter

We have had a fantastic week in Hedgehogs, full of learning, creativity and fun!

✏️ English

In English this week, we have been learning about the key features of a non-chronological report. We explored how to use present tense, subheadings, and facts, and learned that information does not need to be written in time order. The children did a great job spotting these features and beginning to use them in their own work.

➕ Maths

Our mathematicians have been busy applying their skills:

  • Year 1 have been using their knowledge of addition to help them with doubling.

  • Year 2 have been applying their understanding of the 2, 5 and 10 times tables in a range of different contexts.

🌱 Science

In Science, we created a story and role-played what would happen to a plant that received lots of sunlight compared to one that did not. This helped us discuss the importance of sunlight in the life cycle of a plant, from germination to flowering.

🎉 Fun & Celebration

We absolutely loved Breaking the Rules Friday! We saw some incredible outfits and had so much fun celebrating together.
We also enjoyed Book Club on Friday afternoon, where we joined Badgers class to read stories to each other for pleasure – a lovely way to end the week.

This week, we also said a fond goodbye to our chaplain, Heather. We would like to wish her all the very best in her training to be ordained, and thank her for the time and care she has shared with our school.

Well done, Hedgehogs – another brilliant week of learning! 🦔✨
