I hope everyone had a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend!
We have had a very busy and exciting week in Hedgehogs Class.
In English, we began looking at newspapers and discussing how people hear news about their local area and the wider world. The children shared lots of thoughtful ideas about where news comes from and how it is shared. The children have also been working hard to improve their SPaG skills through practising their phonics, spellings and handwriting.
In RE, we continued learning about the Jewish day of rest, Shabbat. We explored the special dinner shared during Shabbat and learnt about challah bread and the different toppings that can be enjoyed with it. The children particularly enjoyed tasting the bread with toppings such as honey and cinnamon.
On Friday, we celebrated the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough. Throughout the day, we focused on endangered animals by creating non-chronological reports and learning about the importance of protecting wildlife. In the afternoon, the children created beautiful animal paintings inspired by their chosen endangered animal.
In Geography, we began learning about the physical features of the seaside, including beaches, cliffs, sea caves and other coastal features.
We were also amazed by the fantastic effort put into the FOSHS Smarties fundraising campaign. It was wonderful to hear about the many different jobs the children had completed to raise money, and we were incredibly impressed by the creative and colourful designs they created for their Smarties tubes.
Well done to all the children for another fantastic week of learning!
