Hedgehogs’ Weekly News

Hello everyone!

It’s been another busy and exciting week in Hedgehogs Class, filled with creativity, learning, and lots of outdoor fun!

Maths

  • Year 1 have been exploring 3D shapes. We’ve been naming, sorting, and describing shapes by their faces, edges and vertices — and even spotting them around the classroom!

  • Year 2 have been continuing their work on addition, beginning to think about what happens when we cross a ten. They’ve used number lines and base 10 to help with their reasoning and problem solving.

✏️ English

This week, we’ve been learning how to make our writing more exciting by using alliteration and adjectives to add detail and interest. The children had lots of fun experimenting with silly alliterative sentences and using powerful describing words in their stories!

⛪ Harvest Festival

On Tuesday, we enjoyed a wonderful visit to the church for our Harvest Festival service. The children sang beautifully and listened thoughtfully — we were all very proud of them!

RE

In RE, we’ve been thinking about the idea of protecting the planet that Christians believe God created. We talked about how we can help to look after our world, and then created beautiful mobiles using natural materials.
We began by going on a nature walk to collect leaves, twigs and other treasures, which we used to build our mobiles. This helped us to appreciate the natural world around us and think about how we can take care of it.

Homework

I’ve been really impressed with the homework that has come in this week — it’s clear that the children have been working hard and taking pride in their learning at home.
A big thank you to all of our parents and carers for your continued support — it really makes a difference!

It’s been a lovely week of learning and creativity. Well done, Hedgehogs!

Have a wonderful weekend.
