Final Week of Term 1

What an amazing final week of Term 1 we’ve had in Hedgehogs! It has been full of celebration, creativity, and learning — a wonderful way to end our first term together.

Black History Month
On Monday afternoon, we learnt about the importance of Black History Month by celebrating some incredible Black heroes, including Alma Thomas, Marcus Rashford, Mary Seacole, and Rosa Parks. The children created some thoughtful art and PSHE work to help us reflect on their achievements and to think about how we too can be heroes in our own ways.

Diwali Celebrations
On Tuesday, we explored the story of Rama and Ravana as part of our Diwali celebrations. To mark the festival of light, the children made beautiful Diyas out of salt dough. After baking them, we painted them on Friday so that everyone could take home their own candle holder before half term.

Computing Day
Thursday was our dedicated Computing Day! We learnt about the key functions of a computer, how to stay safe online, and practiced our mouse skills — including double-clicking, dragging, and using two fingers to move objects. The children showed fantastic focus and enthusiasm throughout the day.

Halloween Fun!
On Friday, we had a spooktacular time dressing up for Halloween! I was so impressed with everyone’s creative costumes and enthusiasm — what a fantastic way to end the term.

End of Term Reminders
It’s been an amazing first term — I have absolutely loved getting to know you all and have felt such a warm welcome into Stanton Harcourt School.
Over half term, the children have brought home:

  • Their Nativity scripts (with their part highlighted)

  • Their Diya made during our Diwali celebration

  • Their school photo forms

Please take a look at these over the break.

Have a wonderful and restful half term!
I look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday 4th November, ready for the start of Term 2.

P.S. Our first day back will be very exciting — we’re heading on our school trip to the Natural History Museum in Oxford!
