Owl Class News 06.09.24

It has been absolutely lovely to welcome Years 5 and 6 into Owls Class this week. The children have returned from their summer break clearly ready to work hard and I have been very impressed with the effort each child has shown. We have jumped straight into our new topic of World War II, examining artefacts and documents from the war. Many of the children are excited to talk with family members about family stories from that period of history. Our new class novel, ‘Once’, has got off to an exciting start and we all have all chosen a novel set in World War II as our reading book, In Maths this week we have enjoyed reading and writing Roman Numerals as well as beginning to extend our understanding of place value. In English, we have been reading ‘High Flight’ by John Gillespie Magee as we prepare to write our own poems about a Spitfire. Swimming, Art, Orienteering, RE and Computing have completed a busy week for Owl Class.
