It has been lovely to welcome the new Year 6 children into Owl Class and they have got off to a flying start, working extremely hard and clearly keen to do their best and succeed. They have also been demonstrating friendliness and co-operation in group work, really embodying our new school vision. We have started our new topic, World War Two, and have been handling some artefacts and learning about which countries were fighting on which side of the war; the gas mask was definitely the most popular item! The children carried out a very successful experiment in Science, looking at which cup would keep a drink hottest for longest, and to general surprise, found that plastic was a much better insulator than metal. In English we have started two books set during the war, and each child has a reading book set in the period. This is a busy and exciting term which has begun very well. I hope you all have a lovely weekend and I look forward to Week two.
