Owl Class News – 2.10.26

Another busy week in Owls!

Maths
This week, we finished our work on place value and negative numbers and moved on to addition and subtraction. We have particularly focused on recapping exchanging and applying this skill in a variety of different contexts.

English
We have been busy preparing to write our own diary entries. Along the way, we have been practising how to use apostrophes and commas correctly, as well as making our writing more interesting through clauses and varied sentence openers using adverbials.

History
In History, we have been piecing together a timeline of events leading up to the Second World War. We have also been thinking like historians by evaluating the different causes and deciding, in our own opinions, which factors contributed most significantly to the outbreak of war.

Harvest Festival
We have begun preparing for our part in the Harvest Festival, with lots of art and drama as we get ready for our contribution to the church service. We are looking forward to sharing it with you!

Important PE Update
Our PE days are changing. PE will now be on Mondays and Thursdays. Thursday will continue to be our swimming day, but our Tuesday PE lesson is moving to Monday. Please could children therefore come to school wearing their PE kit on Mondays from now on.

Homework and Sparx Reader
A huge well done to everyone who completed their homework this week – it was fantastic to see! We are also now well underway with Sparx Reader, and it has been brilliant to see the children getting stuck into their reading and completing their work.

Well done, Owls, for another fantastic week!
