Owl Class News 24.02.23

It has been a cracking first week back after half term, with the children carrying on from where they left off before the break. We have been revisiting decimal numbers in Maths including place value, rounding and calculating with them. It has been a launch into the thousandths column, building on the learning about hundredths in Year 5. In English we have looked at two poems which use figurative language to describe the transition between seasons, including one which uses the metaphor of a boxing match. Of course we had to act out this one (see photos!). We learned about volcanoes in Geography and watched some amazing footage of a Tongan volcano erupting in January 2022 and a volcano in Antarctica. On Tuesday, we went to church to mark Shrove Tuesday and the beginning of Lent. This included a battle of frying pan between two of our class!
