We have had a great final week of term, with plenty of learning in Science (separating mixtures) and English (completing our stories which build tension) along with factors and prime numbers in Maths, our final Swimming session and the completion of our digital photography module in Art, where we created some fantastic final pieces of work.
The outstanding part of the week, though, has been our trip to Coleshill. The weather was beautiful and we spent most of the day outside, including eating lunch, in the glorious surroundings of this model farm, once a secret training base for Auxiliers during the war. I have uploaded more photos than usual, to give you an idea of the wide range of activities we undertook as we learned about how the Auxiliers were trained and how Coleshill operated. We had great fun dressing up and wearing camouflage face paint before crawling under a net and then seeing who could hide the best by blending silently into their surroundings; we used a Morse code machine and a cypher wheel; we went into a replica underground bunker – down by ladder, out by tunnel; we handled artefacts; and we chased around an orchard following clues to find messages. It was a really great day out which all the children seemed to enjoy, and the behaviour was excellent.
After eight weeks of hard work with lots of real highlights, I hope everyone has a good rest over half term.
