Squirrels Class News 08.12.23

We have had a very busy week this week, and we have been working very hard!

In English we have been preparing ourselves and drafting our persuasive letters to Birt and Etho, to persuade them to let us be their friend! Their letters are very convincing!

In maths we have been looking at ways to partition (split into parts) the numbers up to 10, in lots of different ways. Their use of a part-whole model is very impressive.

In History we have been investigating different artefacts and what they can tell us about the past. We also looked at Samuel Pepys’ diary as an important historical source that gave us information about the Great Fire. The children have absolutely loved history this term and I am very sad to see this topic end – I hope you have been as impressed with their knowledge on the Great Fire of London as I have!

In RE we wrapped up our learning on the Christmas story, and thought to ourselves what gifts we would give baby Jesus if he was born in Stanton Harcourt. Lots of lovely thoughts here, including cuddly toys, a milk bottle, and a Porsche (so that they can get back to Nazareth!).

In Science with Mrs McKay they explored the differences between animals and their diet – looking at herbivores, omnivores and carnivores.

Finally, we have been rehearsing and fine-tuning our Nativity play ready for next week. Thank you so much to those who have brought in their costumes, we are all really excited for the performances next week, and look forward to seeing you there.

Have a fab weekend.
