Squirrels Class News 09.02.24

Wow, and just like that it is half term! I have been so pleased and proud of all of the hard work and effort they have put in this past term – their progress has been incredible to see! Here’s what we’ve been up to in our last week:

This week in English, we have finally been writing up in best our non-chronological reports, using all of our wonderful sentences from our planning, and writing it out in our best handwriting. I am so impressed with how they have turned out!

In maths, we have been sharpening our skills with numbers by exploring the concepts of ‘one more’ and ‘one less’. We explored the relationship between these consecutive numbers and writing different addition and subtraction equations to represent this.

Our budding scientists have been busy this week deciding on the optimal location within the school for a plant to thrive. After careful consideration and observation, they’ve planted bulbs in the chosen area, and we look forward to seeing how well they grow!

Creativity knows no bounds in Squirrels! This week in art, our young artists have unleashed their imaginations to create a stunning 3D spider sculpture – which they painted and decorated as well.

Finally in RE, we have been exploring the similarities and differences between Judaism and Christianity. Through thoughtful discussions and reflective activities, they’ve been gaining insights into the beliefs, practices, and traditions of these two major world religions, fostering a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity and religious understanding.

As always, thank you for your continued support and involvement, I hope you all have a fantastic half term break with lots of rest (and reading!).
