Squirrels Class News 26.01.24

What a busy week we have had this week!

We started our week off strong with an exciting day on Monday – going on a ‘safari’ through school looking for our ‘Big Five’! Straight after that we went on our school trip to Pitt Rivers. We got to hold lots of artefacts, and learnt lots of interesting facts about all of the different countries in Africa. I was so impressed with how sensible and inquisitive they all were – a big well done to everyone!

We have also been doing lots of learning this week too.

In maths we have been looking at first, then, now addition and subtraction stories and writing mathematical equations to represent these. In English we have been looking at non-chronological reports and the features, getting ready to find out all about and write one about African animals!

In RE, we tried Challah bread, and looked at the traditions of Shabbat.

In computing we wrote some instructions for our beebots to follow – we tried and tested and edited our instructions to make our beebots travel in a square.

In science we have been carrying on looking at plants. This week our focus was on what plants need to grow, and asked the question: would a plant be able to grow in the dark?

Have a great weekend.
